How to Get Your DVD Screensaver on Any Smart TV

You created a DVD screensaver in DVDify. Here’s how to get it on your TV: use the share link in your TV browser, cast from your phone, or play an MP4 from a USB stick. Step-by-step for Samsung, LG, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, and more.

30 second demo of DVDify

As someone who helps people put their DVD screensaver on TVs, I’m often asked if it works for office signage, lobby displays, or at home. The short answer is yes, you can get your DVDify rendering on almost any TV. Whether it’s for office signage for TV, a lobby screen, a trade show, or your living room, your exported video (or share link) can play on smart TVs, streaming sticks, and even older sets with a USB port.

It’s a bit dependent on your setup. Two useful questions: What brand of TV do you have? And: Do you have a streaming device (Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast)?

Feel free to jump ahead to the relevant section for step-by-step instructions.

Samsung TVs

Samsung TVs (including the Frame TV) often have a built-in web browser. The simplest way to play your DVDify rendering is to open that browser and go to your share link (the URL you get when you click Share in DVDify; it looks like dvdify.com/s/...). The video will play in the browser. If the player has a repeat or loop option, use it for a continuous screensaver.

Samsung’s SmartThings app and Ambient Mode (or Art Mode on Frame TVs) are built for photos, not video. So for your video rendering, stick to the TV browser or one of these options:

  • Use a streaming device (Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast) and open the share link in that device’s browser or cast from your phone.
  • Use AirPlay (iPhone/iPad) or screen mirroring (Android) to send the video to the TV.
  • Download your rendering as MP4 from DVDify, put it on a USB stick, and play it through the TV’s USB/media app.

LG TVs

Many LG TVs have a web browser (e.g. WebOS browser). Open it and go to your DVDify share link to play your rendering. LG’s ThinQ app is aimed at sharing photos, not video, and often only shows one image at a time. So for a video screensaver, the browser or one of these works better:

  • Streaming device (Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast): open the share link in the device’s browser or cast.
  • AirPlay (iPhone/iPad) or screen mirroring (Android).
  • Chromecast built into newer LG models: cast the share link from your phone’s Chrome app.
  • USB stick with your MP4 file, played through the TV’s media app.

TCL, Hisense or Sony TVs

TCL, Hisense, and Sony TVs often run Android TV or Google TV, so they usually have Chromecast built in. On the TV, open the browser (if available) and go to your share link, or cast from your phone: open the share link in Chrome on your phone, tap the Cast icon, and choose your TV. Your DVDify video will play on the big screen.

Other options: use a streaming device, AirPlay (on some Sony TVs), screen mirroring (Android), or a USB stick with your MP4.

Other TV brands

For Vizio, Panasonic, or other brands, check whether the TV has a web browser or casting support. If it has a browser, open your DVDify share link there. If not, a streaming device (Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, or Chromecast) is an affordable way to get a browser and casting on any TV with HDMI. The USB method (copy your MP4 to a stick and play it on the TV) works on almost any TV with a USB port and a video player app.

Roku

You don’t need a smart TV to use Roku. Any TV with HDMI will do. To play your DVDify rendering:

  1. Connect your Roku and phone to the same Wi‑Fi network.
  2. On the Roku, open the browser channel (e.g. “Web Browser” from the channel store) if you have one, and go to your DVDify share link.
  3. If there’s no browser, cast from your phone: open the share link in Chrome (or Safari), then use your phone’s cast/screen-mirror option to send the video to the Roku (when supported).

Amazon Fire TV

Fire TV devices (stick, cube, or built-in Fire TV) usually have the Silk or another browser. To play your DVDify video:

  1. Install a browser from the Fire TV app store if you don’t have one.
  2. Open the browser, go to your DVDify share link (dvdify.com/s/...), and play the video.

Alternatively, you can upload your exported MP4 to Amazon Photos, open Amazon Photos on the Fire TV, and play the video from there. Handy if you prefer not to use the browser.

Apple TV

If you use an iPhone or iPad, AirPlay is the easiest way to get your DVDify rendering on an Apple TV (or any AirPlay-compatible TV):

  1. Connect your iPhone/iPad and Apple TV to the same Wi‑Fi network.
  2. On your phone, open the DVDify share link in Safari (or open a saved MP4 in the Files or Photos app).
  3. Tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV. The video will play on the TV.

Chromecast / Google TV

Chromecast and Google TV are built into many smart TVs and are also available as small HDMI dongles. To play your DVDify video:

  1. Make sure your phone and Chromecast/Google TV are on the same Wi‑Fi network.
  2. On your phone, open the DVDify share link in Chrome.
  3. Tap the Cast icon in Chrome and choose your TV or Chromecast. The video will play on the TV.

You can also cast a browser tab from your computer (Chrome’s Cast option) with the share link open. If you’ve uploaded your MP4 to Google Drive or Google Photos, you can cast from those apps to the TV as well.

AirPlay (iPhone/iPad)

If your TV supports AirPlay (many Samsung, LG, Sony, and other smart TVs do), you can send your DVDify video from your iPhone or iPad without an Apple TV. Open the share link in Safari (or play the MP4 from Files/Photos), then tap the AirPlay icon and choose your TV. The video will play on the big screen. Great for a quick demo or a looping screensaver in a room that supports it.

Screen mirroring (Android)

On Android, the feature may be called Smart View, Cast, or Miracast, often in the quick settings when you pull down from the top. Turn on screen mirroring and select your TV. Then open the DVDify share link in Chrome (or play your saved MP4) on your phone; whatever is on your screen will appear on the TV. Simple and works well for playing your rendering on the big screen.

USB stick / Flash drive

This method works on almost any TV with a USB port and a built-in media or video player:

  1. In DVDify, download your rendering as MP4.
  2. Copy the MP4 onto a USB stick (use a format the TV supports, e.g. FAT32).
  3. Plug the USB into the TV and open the TV’s Photos/Video or Media app.
  4. Select the USB source and play your video. If the app has a “repeat” or “loop” option, turn it on for a continuous screensaver.

No internet or phone needed. Just the file on a stick. Ideal for office signage for TV, lobby displays, trade shows, or anywhere you want the same video running all day.

Final thoughts

In summary, you can get your DVDify rendering onto almost any TV. The easiest method is usually opening your share link in the TV’s browser. One URL and it plays. If the TV doesn’t have a browser or you prefer not to use it, casting (Chromecast, AirPlay, or screen mirroring) or a USB stick with your MP4 are reliable alternatives. The best method depends on your TV, phone, and whether you have a streaming device. The good news is you have several options, whether you’re setting up office signage for TV, a lobby display, a trade show screen, or a screensaver at home.

If you want longer or higher-quality videos for a permanent display (e.g. office signage, lobby TV, or digital signage), check out DVDify Pro for HD and longer durations. And if you haven’t made your rendering yet, head to DVDify to upload your image and create your bouncing logo in seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I display my DVDify video on a Samsung TV?

Open the TV’s built-in web browser and go to your DVDify share link (dvdify.com/s/...). The video will play there; use a repeat/loop option if available. You can also use a streaming device, cast from your phone, or play an MP4 from a USB stick.

Can I use a USB stick to play my DVD screensaver on the TV?

Yes. Download your rendering as MP4 from DVDify, copy it to a USB stick, plug it into your TV, and use the TV’s media or video app to play the file. Many TVs let you set the video to repeat for a continuous screensaver.

What is the DVDify share link?

After you create a rendering in DVDify, click Share to get a link like https://www.dvdify.com/s/ followed by an ID. Anyone can open this link in a browser to watch your bouncing logo video, including on a smart TV’s browser or by casting from a phone or computer.

Does it work on Roku or Fire TV?

Yes. On Roku or Fire TV, open the built-in browser (e.g. Silk on Fire TV) and go to your DVDify share link. You can also cast the share link from your phone’s Chrome or Safari to a Chromecast or AirPlay device, or mirror your screen and play the video.

How do I get a long or HD video for my TV?

DVDify offers free SD exports up to 15 seconds. For longer durations and HD or 4K quality, ideal for office or lobby TVs, check out DVDify Pro on the pricing page.

Can I use this for office signage or lobby TV?

Yes. This guide applies to office signage for TV, lobby displays, trade show screens, and home use. The share link in a TV browser works well for reception or lobby TVs. For set-and-forget displays with no internet, use a USB stick with your MP4 and set the TV to repeat. For long-running or HD signage, use DVDify Pro to export longer, higher-quality videos.
